Privacy policy
Last updated 8 June 2026
This policy covers this website and the early-access sign-up. It is published by Incipit [GAP: registered company name]. You can reach us at [GAP: contact email, a brand address].
What we collect
If you join the early-access list, we collect your email address and, if you choose to give it, your answer to "what are you writing." That is all the personal information the site asks for. We do not use tracking cookies, and we do not build advertising profiles.
How we use it
We use your email only to contact you about early access and the launch, and to answer you if you write to us. We do not sell your details, and we do not share them except with the providers below who run the service for us.
Where it is stored
Sign-ups are handled by Netlify, our hosting provider, and held in our account with them. Email we exchange with you sits with our email provider. Each of these processes the data on our behalf, under their own security and privacy terms.
Analytics
We use a privacy-friendly analytics tool that counts visits and pages without cookies and without identifying you personally. It tells us how many people visit and what they read, not who they are.
The app and your files
Incipit runs on your own computer and reads and writes your book in a folder on your disk. Your manuscript is not uploaded to us, and we do not receive it or keep a copy. When you use the assistant, your request goes from your device to Anthropic under your own API key and account, and Anthropic's terms govern that exchange. We never ask for or store your API key.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete the details you gave us, and you can leave the early-access list at any time, by writing to [GAP: contact email]. We will act on reasonable requests promptly.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and post the new version here.
Governing law
This policy is governed by the law of [GAP: jurisdiction, for example New Zealand], and we aim to meet its privacy requirements [GAP: confirm the relevant Act with your lawyer].
